About Me
Where I Come From:
My name is Victoria Magaña but most know me as PEACHY for @peachy_buns, my handle on instagram. I have grown up near LA my whole life, but thanks to me being homeschooled I was constantly traveling across the country and overseas. Art and design has been a love of mine for as long as I could remember with my oldest memories being covered in paint, glitter, and stickers from head to toe. Constantly crafting and sewing my own elaborate costumes and cosplays through my adolescents with a set of folks by my side who supported me 100%. I studied photography all through high school and thought I would major in it, however at Mt. San Antonio College I fell in love with more forms of art such as painting, printmaking, sculpture, and design. I changed my major to graphic design to utilize all these forms in my work and have categorized myself as a designer. I paint and study color theory when I am not behind a screen.
How I Define Myself:
Although most of my portfolio work is more commercial for graphic design, my personal portfolio is filled with mixed media art works, that are on the topics of sexuality, mental illness, feminism, with a Japanese pop culture aesthetic. I am also into fashion, specifically Harajuku fashion, and will get out of bed 2 hours early to make sure I look and feel my best. I am a body-positive artist that strives to push anti slut-shaming as well as awareness to the varying degrees of mental illnesses.
What I Like:
Color theory in general makes me drool, and I find myself the most happiest when I am immersed by color. I channel this not only through my artwork, but as well in my daily life. I express it through my fashion and makeup choices, and the interior design of my bedroom decorated with souvenirs from my travels and trips to Japan, prints from my favorite indie artists/childhood icons, and enough plushies and stuffed animals to make my queen sized bed into a twin. Material and sentimental objects hold a lot of memories and inspiration for me, and it is because of these things that I am able to create and express myself daily.
What Am I Going To Do In The Future:
I am currently an art student working on my BFA in Graphic Design with the prospect of getting my Masters in Art. Ideally I would love to create graphic art for fashion brands I look up to in Harajuku, Japan, but I would be happy working as a creative for any print or production company willing to give this colorful girl a chance. I want to be able to work as a professor later on in life after I get tired of the competitive lifestyle. I have always admired the profession ever since I went to community college and would love to facilitate in the next generation of creatives.
My Design Skills:
- Photoshop – 90%
- Illustrator – 80%
- InDesign – 85%
- HTML & CSS – 30%
